Khara Ledonne
Khara Ledonne is a locally born artist raised on crayons and finger paints. At sixteen she began working as an independent muralist which carried her through college at Cornish College of the Arts and to New York where she currently lives.
Her studio work is a combination of oil painting, print art and fabric obsession. Every canvas is built and stretched by hand in the space between her sewing machine and trunk of paints in her tiny Brooklyn studio.
The subject matter is inspired by time-worn, hand-crafted objects with a focus on detail, line quality and map imagery.
Color plays a large part in the work, inspired by patchwork quilts and paint swatches, as well as her time spent in Europe, particularly Italy. She is currently working on developing a series of abstracted world maps. Khara shows in both Bellingham and New York.
